When Everything Almost Fell Apart — and the Lesson I’ll Never Forget

The Morning It All Unravelled

Last Thursday began with excitement and a little nerves.
It was my photo-shoot day — weeks of planning, fabrics chosen, props ready, light perfectly golden.

Then a message popped up.
The house I’d booked had cancelled.

Just like that, my carefully plotted morning collapsed.
My first reaction? Cancel everything.
My second? Maybe this is the universe telling me to slow down.

As a creative founder, you learn that flexibility is part of the job — but in that moment, all I felt was panic.

The Warwickshire Countryside

Finding Calm in the Fields

So I did what always clears my mind: I took the dog for a walk.
The Warwickshire air was crisp, the fields misty and grounding.

And as I walked, a quiet thought arrived:
Ask for help.

It sounds simple, but if you run a creative business, you’ll know — asking can feel uncomfortable. We wear so many hats: designer, packer, photographer, storyteller. Reaching out can feel like failure.

But that morning, something shifted. I thought of my friend Natalie, who lives in the next village — her home filled with light and warmth.

I called her. She said yes before I’d even finished asking.

From Panic to Possibility

Later, I was unloading boxes into her kitchen.
The light danced across the walls, the photographer smiled, and suddenly what felt impossible turned into one of my favourite shoots yet.

The images captured more than colour and fabric — they caught joy, friendship, and that reminder I keep coming back to:

We don’t have to do it all alone.

The Quiet Power of Asking

Running a British-made homeware brand means constant juggling: sourcing materials, meeting deadlines, staying creative.
But the truth I learned that day applies far beyond business — it’s about life.

Asking isn’t weakness; it’s an act of trust.
It allows space for community, collaboration, and unexpected beauty.

When we reach out, we invite others into our story.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what transforms an ordinary day into something extraordinary.

A Gentle Reminder

If you’ve been carrying something heavy — a project, a worry, a decision — maybe this is your nudge to ask.
Someone near you is ready to help, to say yes, to make things easier.

And who knows? It might lead to something even more beautiful than you planned.
