My creative process is deeply personal, filled with careful thought, colour exploration, and meticulous craftsmanship. Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes of how a Tracey Cooper design comes to life, from the first sketch to a finished product that finds its way into your home.

Finding Inspiration

Inspiration is everywhere—whether it’s the intricate patterns in nature, the bold colours of a bustling market, or the timeless charm of British wildlife. I often start with a feeling, a mood I want to capture in a piece. Once an idea takes hold, I begin sketching, letting my imagination guide me as I bring the concept to paper.

Sketching and Refining the Design

Each design begins as a hand-drawn sketch. I focus on the details that make the subject come alive—the curve of a petal, the texture of an animal’s fur, the movement of a fish in water. At this stage, I explore different compositions, playing with shapes and lines to create a balanced and engaging image.

Once I’m happy with the sketch, I refine it further, often introducing colour palettes that reflect my brand’s signature vibrancy. Colour plays a crucial role in my work, as it brings personality and warmth to each design. I experiment with hues until I find the perfect balance that feels both timeless and striking.

Bringing the Design to Life

After finalising the artwork, it’s time to transform it into a tangible product. My designs are printed onto high-quality fabric by skilled artisans in the UK, ensuring that each piece meets my exacting standards. Every step of the process—from selecting the right materials to overseeing the production—reflects my commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship.

The moment a finished product is ready is always magical.
